Cost versus Value
“Home rehabbers who are considering a move in the not-too-distant future should focus mostly on exterior upgrades.” This is a message from REALTORS who participated in Remodeling Magazine’s 20th annual “Cost vs. Value Report.”
No rehab project in our North Carolina area generated a 100% or greater return on investment. The highest rated items returned something in the 80th percentile. The four highest rated remodeling projects were as follows:
- Minor kitchen remodel (the only interior project returning more than 80% investment)
- Upscale siding replacement using fiber cement products (ex: hardiplank 88.1%)
- Wood deck addition (84.5%)
- Midrange vinyl siding replacement (83.2%)
